Weltrend Semiconductor announced that its E-Marker chipset for USB Type-CTM Cables, WT6622, passed the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) certification test with TID of 1000161 and XID of 0005476 respectively.
Weltrend is the leader in USB Type-C PD (Power Delivery) controllers and its chipsets address a broad set of market segments for the emerging USB Type-C products including power adapters for USB Type-C based notebooks, 2-in-1s, tablets, and smartphones as well as USB Type-C based accessories such as car chargers, power banks, power strips, docking stations and dongles. The WT6622 is Weltrend’s latest USB Type-C related chipset in the portfolio and is the Company’s first for Type-C cable application.
The WT6622 is a highly integrated USB Type-C E-marker IC that supports USB PD 3.0 and Type-C 1.3 specifications designed for Type-C passive cables. The WT6622 minimizes external components by integrating isolation diodes, Ra resistors, and linear regulator to allow small form factor and low BOM cost. An One-Time Programmable (OTP) ROM is provided for cable characteristics setting, such as current capability, USB standard version, vendor identification, and etc.
