Epson Develops World\'s First Multi-Output SAW Oscillators

- TOKYO, Japan, August 19, 2013 -

Seiko Epson Corporation (TSE: 6724, \"Epson\"), the world leader in quartz crystal technology and the pioneer of SAW filters and oscillators, today introduces the world\'s firstmultiple-output SAW oscillators. The new MG-7050 family of multiple-output SAW oscillators (MOSO) allows networking, storage, and computing equipment manufacturers to reduce size, cost, and power without compromising performance or reliability.

Using proven high-reliability SAW technology, Epson\'s new MG-7050 family achieves very low jitter(120 fs rms @ 156.25 MHz and 50 fs @ 700 MHz integrated phase jitter 12 kHz - 20 MHz) suitable for the most demanding applications. The MG-7050 family integrates a complete timing chain - a SAW oscillator, frequency dividers, and fan-out buffers- and still achieves the same jitter performance as Epson\'s industry-leading XG-2121 and XG-2102 series of SAW oscillators.

Integrating the complete timing chain eliminates separate fan-out buffers, saving board space, power, and cost. Epson\'s MG-7050 family also includes a programmable frequency divider so a single MG-7050 can provide two frequencies, which can further reduce the BoM and cost.

To accommodate a variety of systems, Epson offers the new MG-7050 MOSOs in 2- and 4-output configurations and three output types: LV-PECL, LVDS, and HCSL. Epson\'s MG-7050 is provided in a small 5 mm x 7 mm x 1.6 mm package. Samples are available now.

\"As a leader in crystal devices,\" Masayuki Kitamura, chief operating officer of Epson\'s Microdevices Operations Division, \"Epson will continue to provide the kind of compact, accurate, stable products required in electronics and social infrastructure.\"
