Measurement Specialties introduces a new family of low cost, board mountable triaxial accelerometers designed for embedded shock and vibration monitoring applications. Included in this family are the model 832 series accelerometers offered in ranges from ±100g to ±500g and the model 834 series accelerometers offered in ranges from ±2000g to ±6000g.

The model 832 and model 834 accelerometers incorporate stable piezo-ceramic crystals with full power and signal conditioning circuitry in a miniature hermetically sealed package. Designed for nominal 3.3Vdc battery power, the accelerometers feature a maximum total power consumption of 4 micro-Amps which will enable years of operation before any maintenance is required.

While the standard model 832 & 834 accelerometers offer a flat frequency response to 2kHz, the optional model 832M1 & 834M1 provide an extended frequency range to greater than 6kHz for wide bandwidth measurements. The optional model 832M1 & 834M1 also extend the operating temperature range of the triaxial accelerometers to -40°C to +125°C. Packaged in a miniature smt envelope, this family of accelerometers will be ideal in embedded long-term shock and vibration monitoring applications.

The Vibration Design Center in Aliso Viejo, CA spearheads Measurement Specialties\' global initiative to expand its accelerometer and vibration sensing business with customers in the automotive, medical, military/aerospace and consumer goods industries. This center builds on the company\'s platform sensing technologies in silicon MEMS, piezoelectric polymer film, piezoelectric ceramic and bonded gage.
