Princeton Technology Corp. (PTC) introduced a series of solutions for three-phase brushless DC (BLDC) motor control application

    Princeton Technology Corp. (PTC) introduced a series of solutions for three-phase brushless DC (BLDC) motor control application, includes non-MCU hardwire base motor controller and motor controller which embedded a high performance ARM Cortex-M0 32-bit MCU, a series of single channel half bridge and three channels half bridge power driver components (with IGBT or MOSFET) gate drive (Gate driver),  as well as FRD (Fast Recovery Diode) n-type MOSFET with low switching losses.


    PT2431/PT2432/PT2432A non-MCU hardwire all-in-one motor controller supports trapezoidal wave driving for 3 phase BLDC motor, DC or PWM speed control, up to maximum 20,000 RPM rotation speed without hall sensor feedback rotor information (Sensorless). they also integrates gate driver for power devices and 6 P/NMOS to form the inverter to drive the 3 phase BLDC motor directly, the major applications of the all-in-one sensorless motor controllers are for low power (<12W) and low voltage (<24V) 3 phase BLDC motor applications, include cooling fans in the PC/server/communication equipment room, as well as low power and low pressure water pump.


    Except above parts, Princeton Technology Corp. also provides separate non-MCU base hardwire motor drive controllers, PT2434 and PT2501, PT2434 support trapezoidal wave drive for3 phase BLDC motor without hall sensor feedback rotor information(sensorless), and PT2501 support sinusoidal wave drive for 3 phase BLDC motor with hall sensor or hall element feedback rotor information, both PT2434 and PT2501 controllers can drive  medium to high voltage and high power three-phase BLDC motor by using proper gate driver and power components, they also support DC or PWM speed control, FG and RD output to indicate the rotation speed and status, as well as the OCP, and Thermo shutdown protection, the main applications include home fan, ceiling fan, home appliances/air conditioning fan, industrial fans, exhaust fan, as well as higher power high pressure water pumping.


    As for MCU base motor drive controller, Princeton Technology Corp. provides a ARM Cortex-M0 32-bit base motor drive controller, PT2580, PT2580 support sensorless field oriented control (FOC) technology and sinusoidal wave driving for 3 phase BLDC motor, major for high dynamic loading, and high efficient, stable and quiet applications. Through the combination of gate driver and power components, PT2580 can drive the medium voltage or high voltage, and high power three-phase BLDC motor, but still can achieve high efficient, stable and quiet operation. Major applications include ceiling fans, range hood exhaust fan industrial fans applications.


    Princeton Technology Corp. also provides single channel half bridge PT5606, 3 channels half bridge PT5616/PT5616A/PT5617/PT5618 gate driver, except for PT5618 (support up to 200VDC), other gate drivers can support up to 600V, driving capability for: IO+ 160~320mA, IO- 340~620mA. PT5606 is fully compatible with IR2103, and PT5616A is fully compatible with IR2136.


    Princeton Technology Corp. also provides a series of n-type MOSFET, include 2N50, 2N60, 4N60 and 5N50, through its proprietary design and ultra high voltage foundry process make Princeton Technology Corp. n-type MOSFET reach very low Ron value and switching loss, as well as high voltage resistance. Compare to competitor's parts, the motor operation can be increased efficiency and stability by using Princeton Technology Corp. n-type MOSFET.
