Leading fabless company MtekVision (CEO Michael Lee, www.mtekvision.com) announced on the 26th that the company has developed an automotive/consumer solution called ‘MV1002’ and will commence mass production from this November.
Based on an existing MtekVision multimedia platform, the ‘MV1002’ is a product which has integrated MLC NAND into one chip. By integrating the existing and market-verified million-seller multimedia chip with NAND Memory into one package, the company will be able to supply customers which integrate desired software. As a result, customers do not need to install additional software and can operate the device such through installation and a power supply, a characteristic expected to significantly improve customer development environments and increase product cost competitiveness, such as reduced R&D expense, mass production costs and development terms.
From a technical perspective, the degree of integration is increased through by applying 3D packaging technology rather than the previous 2D packaging technology, enabling a design space supporting various application implementations. The acquisition of a software platform allowing stable use of MLC (Multi-Level Cell) NAND applying NAND Flash technologies that allow optimized implementation of a wide range of solutions at higher cost competitiveness and bigger capacity than previous NAND Flash is also significant.
‘MV1002’ is the companys first solution with customer desired features customized into one chip. In the future, the solution will be extendable for utilization in various security related application sectors, such as Black Box, DVR, IP Camera, Door Lock, Theft Device System, etc. Particularly, its superior video compression technologies make it well suited for wireless solutions as WiFi and ZigBee in addition to digital cameras, digital camcorders, voice recorders, and more.
MtekVision’s director of strategic planning division, Bae Inho, states that “’MV1002’ is significant because it is our company’s first product which converts our previous single product centered portfolio to solution oriented business portfolio. We expect sales of approximately 5 million units within the automotive Black Box market, a market expected to show immense growth in the future. In addition to the automotive industry, this solution is expected to greatly contribute to the growth of our company because it can easily be integrated in a variety of solutions within the consumer market.
